New Temp Gauge Woes

Hey Forum Chums....Temp gauge for 861 goes bye bye....bought a new one....the old one had a flared fitting ....the new one did not....tightened it as tight as I dared....dripping at the block.....pulled the new...replaced with the old...no leak...so...Do you think that someone grabbed the wrong fitting one day?.....anyone else replace a temp gauge of late??...

That's why they make adapters.

Ed,A good quality temperature gauge usually comes with 2 or 3 different size adapter fittings 3/8",1/2",3/4"NPT,for the bulb to fit into.

Hokie...I will post a picture......don't know about an adapter for this application....but I am not a plumber...lol

Thanks Den.....Got it from Ford NH......No adapters came with......I initially tried NAPA....no luck....on to a plumbing supply house when I get home....where would you buy a good quality gauge??...lot of junk out there from all sourses!

Auto parts stores have every possible adapter you can imagine. Most have a box of Dorman fittings.
