I have always used Napa 1010 Gold oil filters in my 8N.
But the local Napa store closed and the nearest one is in the next town over.

What is the next best oil filter for my 8N.
Here in town we have Autozone and O'Reilly's Auto Parts.
I have a list of oil filters, but which one is best?

Napa Gold 1010
Motorcraft FL 144
Balidwin P40

You've got other choices as well; see tip # 64.

My bet is that most of these filters are made by 3 or 4 companies, all w/ the same specs, but w/ different brand names. Just like batteries.

Someone always seems to have one of these brands available & on sale, so I buy 4 or 6 at a time for the 4 8N's.

If you want to get in the TMI zone, start here:

There use to be another site that summed up the results nicely, but, IIRC, some filter company sued the guy & he took the site down.

Wix and NAPA Gold are the same filter with different packaging and markings. Wix makes them for NAPA. Wix
makes the regular NAPA filters using a slightly cheaper filter element.

Baldwin, Fleetguard, and Luber-Finer make good quality commercial-grade filters. I have used many of these
brand filters in heavy equipment and large trucks.

The next best would be Wix 51010 at your Oriellys.
Should be same filer from same mfg and quality
should be exact match.

"What is the next best oil filter for my 8N"

Considering that this is a 65-year-old machine using bypass filtration with NO full-flow filter, I think a greater challenge would be to find an oil filter on the market today that is NOT OK/a suitable choice to use!

Guess I'll get a WIX 51010.

When I first got my 8N y'all recommended the NAPA Gold 1010 as the best filter I could get. So I have been using those ever since. I can order one but with shipping and everything it comes to about $23. Or I could make the 45 minute drive up to the next little town and get one there. But those little 45 minute trips have a way of taking nearly all day.

If you want to stay with WIX (certainly not a BAD choice), shop around on ebay, there's at least one (highly rated) seller who will have them delivered to you for under $13.00.

Or, if you are an Amazon Prime member, $11.87 delivered.

Whichever you can find locally - I doubt there is noticeable difference in performance in
any of them--now that said-someone correct me..Tks
