FEL Inconveniences

Was watching one of the videos posted here the other day and saw a guy grab a battery and just slide it into the battery box from the side.

I never would have thought it could be done that way since I have a Davis FEL on mine and the frame is right in the way. I'm sure glad ol' Henry made the hole up top large enough to get a battery through it. Just one more of the inconveniences of the FEL.

Still, I wouldn't even think of removing it.

Hmm.....never thought of it as a safety feature, but I guess you're right.

Funny you should mention that cause i was up in
the woods last year with my 8n dumping a load of
bark with my 3pt carrier. Pretty bumpy ride,
dumped the load and on my way back seen something
black in the middle of the trail. As I got closer
I realized it was my battery. I looked down and
the two wires were just hanging there. I had just
charged that battery up but when I put it in never
secured it.
No harm but lesson learned.

i haven't seen a davis loader up close/detailed, but it must be somewhat different than a ford 703. i am able to remove my battery out the side with the loader/frame installed, instead of trying to get it up through the hood access panel. there's just enough space to be able to rotate it and keep it upright to bring it out below the frame piece.

In your pic you have a lot of space between the frame and the sheet metal. On mine the frame has only about two and a half or three inches clearance there.
