Wiring prob

Hey need some help with wireing I picked up a 1952 8 N it has a alt neg ground it is a one wire alt delco they have the 10 gage wire from alt going to the - side of coil wire from + side of coil to side of dist then there is a wire going from - side of coil to key switch the key switch Is just off on it is a 2 prong switch Something don't seam right the tractor runs great Tryed to ck voltage to see if alt is charging but my dig meter keeps jumping around Thanks for any help

ot the preferred way of doing it, but will/does work.
 
dcpky.......ALL digital meters will jump around. Its a circuit called "sample and hold". It is susceptible to yer sparkies. I'm notta' fan of the 1-wire alternator conversion 'cuz it takes about 2/3's throttle to turn the alternator "ON". Dunno about you...BUT...I don't like jazzin' a COLD engine to high rpms. I much prefer the 3-wire alternator 'cuz it will turn on at about 1/3 throttle. (600-rpms) ........Dell, a 12-volt advocate for the right reasons; so far I haven't found the right reason to convert my eazy starting 6-volt 8-N
