180* t-stat's are getting harder to find. My usual source (NAPA) said they were out of stock. Got this one from the local Auto Zone, p/n 3518, $13, mailed to my house. The t-stat is for a 1977 Renault R12 1.6L L4.

Other numbers are A&I part # A-11C15, Gates 33108, Beck/Arnley part # 143-0024 or NAPA part number THM 184.

Bruce........somehow that don't look like the hoze mounted thermostats use in upper radiator hoze fer 9N/2N/8N's. Is it fer the OHV 134 block? .......Dell

TSC also has thermostats,at least here in my area. There are lots of Ns that get daily use here for mowing, hauling hay, etc.

Yea, it does look like an NAA t-stat. It's a real tight fit in the hose, but w/ a little soap, it will go in. No need for the 3rd clamp!

It all started when the price of a N thermo jumped and then for a short while were not available.. Then someone came up with this Renault Le car thermostat that fits in the top rad hose like a N,,, they knew if they dreamed up a myth that it was better fer ya N folks would jump all over them...

It does not matter what you pay for one it fits a Renault le car... a le car is a certified P.O.S.

About a 1980 Le car,,Are there about's... There was one fool that brought a Le car in this one horse town and I was the lucky one that ended up fix'n it... The local finance Co ask me to fix it because the guy was going to let them repo it because it could not be fixed...The deliverd me the car and all the engines that had been installed in it to make one good engine out of the mess...

It had-had 3 engines installed in it and it keep scoring the cylinders and locking up the engine... They were wet sleeve engines no one wanted any part in attempting to replace the sleeves so I took 3 engines apart and found enuff good liners and pistons to build a engine... It blew off hot not soon after I fired it up maybe 5/10 min of run time,,, now we know what got the sleeves Idea I found the thermostat in the radiator hose installed backwards (it was a reverse flow who would have thunk it)...

The first time I seen someone post a pix of that stat I knew zackly what it was made for... I orderd up a good stach of'em while the price was right... The first one I installed the tractor ran hot ... I have never used another one and went back to the original... I have a stash of'em $20 free ship'N no warranty...

Using the Beck/Arnley part # 143-0024 you can get them at rockauto.com for $2.95 ($5.69 shipped to my house in NW FL).

But, they are listed as Wholesaler Closeout so don't know how long they will be around or at this price. It was the same when I ordered from them last year so either they bought a big lot of them or it isn't a very popular item for them.

May have been luck of the draw... I did sell'em a head shortly after... It was cracked and may have been the issue all along...
Like me he works for a living and don't have time to fudge with a worn out N when he needs it... He brought a 800 but working on it also seamed to be the same issue so brought a new Bota problem solved...

The OEM t-stat was 160* because of the old style antifreeze that would boil off at higher temps. The 180* t-stat allows the engine to run hotter meaning less condensation in the crankcase.

I picked up three of these from rock auto at that very exact price. Works just fine but don't know when the heck I'm going to use all three of them.
Tested them out like I do with all my thermostats. They began opening at about 178°.

Can't beat a Kubota--still kick myself daily for not
buying a new MX5100 for $12595.00--of course they
like all the rest have jumped on the greed wagon and
the price is waaaay higher for same tractor..
