front tire tube woes

I got new front tires a couple years ago, having trouble keeping them sound. After the first bout of problems I got new rims about a year ago, the original rims were just a mess. One has been fine. The other one not so much. First I replaced the valve core, which was clearly defective, and it was OK for 6 months. Now it's leaking around the stem (poured water on it), so I've ordered another tube.
Any advice ?

Does not take much to put a hole in a tube. When I mess with rims be they front or back I clean them up and spray them with pick up truck bed liner rattle can spray. That stuff is a bit thick so it covers up any ruff spot on the rim so the tube does not get a hole in them due to a ruff rim.

I wore wheel the rust off. Then sand, prime, scotchbrite and then paint. BAsically treat as any other body panel. I have only had trouble with the 4x19 tubes.

If its leaking between the stem and the rim, you have a hole in the tube. Take it to your local FARM tire shop and have them fix it.

Agreed, sounds like a hole in the tube.

Last time I bought tubes, took 3 to get a good one. I made them air them in the store, 2 bad right out ta the box.

Do check for thorns in the tire casing and burs in e metal rim. Make sure the hole for the stem is not abrading the stem or not overly large and cutting tube. If it is over large, cut a hole in a few inch swatch of lot tube and boot that area.

On a front, I'd patch it if I found the hole and it was new. On a rear? New tube always..
