Rebuilt my 8n front dist 5 years ago, replaced the oil pump gears but not the bushing, tolerances were "good" at that time.
Have been losing oil pressure lately. pilled pump and shaft now has noticeable play.I see the reaming tool is $117, ouch. we have a local machine shop here, would they be able to do it without the jig?
Anybody have a used one they want to sell?

I would play close attention to the pick up tube plate . I have seen some deep grooves cut by a gear riding at an angle . Good chance the gear cut into the pump housing if it was running at any angle from a worn bushing .

(quoted from post at 18:28:22 03/15/15) have a machine shop do rebuild.cheaper and done right.it worked for me.richard

That all depends on the shop . I would feel better boxing it up and mailing it to someone that is familiar with the N's oil system . There are a few guys here that have mills or the proper jig .

Of all the components in these little N motors the Oil pump is the most critical in my book . If they were submerged under the oil line it might be different . Just my opinion - Ken(Ark)

I take it to a local machine shop he has a sunnen rod recondition machine he hones the bushing out with... I have the tool but can not do the job as good as he can...

Thanks for the pick up tube tip Ken, got a new one.

Took it to the machine shop, just got it back, he didn't like the split bushing I got so he made one out of oilite,$42 out the door

get it togeather and out of the shop so I can change the timing chain on the PU, yea the one that you can turn the crank 15 degrees before the dist rotor moves, might just solve the rough idle problem
