painting my 8n

Aug we welcome you aboard. You can paint your tractor any color you want there are no rules. Spray it brush it or as you want to in combo. Spray the gray and brush the red would be fine. The only suggestion from me would be take the wheels off and mask the tires off and you can easily spray both sides and the fenders should also come off and its easy to spray both sides of them and with all that off you have easy access to all the red. Just have fun thats what its all about. Send us a photo when your done is all we ask.

Ford thought it was okay to paint with a brush so I'd say you are good.
Thanks to Ed Gooding for the photo.

(quoted from post at 01:49:21 03/06/15) how would it look if you paint an 8n all red parts with a brush and spray the grey ?

it'll be fine.
That's the way I do most of mine.
(no paint booth, hate overspray, and getting 'gassed' seems to bother me more than it used to.)

Pay attention to detail.
I pull up a chair and go around the entire tractor twice.
Have at least one spraycan of red for impossible to brush spots, and blending.
A good finish with a brush is easy with practice.
couple hints,
...walk around the tractor a few times after you are done with the brush in hand to watch for sags.
....depending on how you hold your brush, tape up the finger where the handle rests on the side.
Tractor takes a while, and you'll get a blister there.
(no calluses there)
...buy brushes with good handles...cheapies snap easily
...don't miss the bottoms and backs of parts, radius arms, axles, etc

Auggy........yes BRUSH the castiron. While spray painting the sheetmetal gives and nice finish, I've seen some very nice sheetmetal painted with short nap paint rollers. Its what the hot-rodders call a 20-20 paint job. Looks good at 20-ft or 20-mph. (grin) I say paint it enny color that pleases you ...except... green'n'yellow. I once saw an N-tractor painted panty pink with purple lace stencils. .......the color blind Dell

Brush works fine on the cast, no reason not to.
Personally I find it easier to get into all the crevices
with a paint gun, but there are pros and cons to both.
