The Rebuild has Commenced!

Alrighty then! Starting over with this 9N of mine from square 1; but I need a bit more of you Ford Tractor guru's advice...

First off - my alternator is SHOT. It has a 3 wire and the local junk yards around here arent likely to have any older model GM cars...with that in mind; what kind of alternator do I need to be looking for at the junkyard? I really dont want to buy a new one if I can avoid it since cash is tight at the moment.

Secondly - per JMOR's diagram; I need a diode to go from the 3 wire alternator to the resistor block...Do any of ya have the specifics on what the diode is as far as voltage, looks or whatever so I can attempt to find it as well?
Tanks in advance too!

I buy new alternators from O'Reilly's for $29.99 exchange w/a guarantee (item #01-0039X) and the diodes from Radio Shack #276-1101, a 2 pack for $1.49. Sometimes you just can't afford to buy used!
Good luck!

The diode wires directly into the wire off the alternator to the center post of the resistor block too correct? And I cheated...Bought one from Auto Zone for the same price lol
