Update on "crispy" Jubilee

Quick update on that Jubilee I posted about here and here.
I got enough of it cleaned up and put back together to do some
testing.

The starter is bad. Not the end of the world, I had an old one.
I put the other starter in, wired it up enough for the starter and
ignition to work, put my spare carb on it gave it a whirl.
It started instantly.

I cobbled a radiator on it (spare Jubilee radiator had to be put
in the 960 today, but that's another story) enough to hold some
antifreeze in the block and drove it out to the barn until the
weather gets better.

The hydraulics worked perfectly and I didn't notice any unusual
knocks or ticks in the engine. The clutch worked fine, which I
hadn't even thought of until I got on to drive it out.

The throttle linkage doesn't want to move at the bellcrank.
I carefully tapped that loose with a hammer.

Now that I know it will run, I guess I'll have to fix it.
The saga continues.......

Lucky you !!
Quite the resurrection.

My best wishes for a speedy Jubilee recovery must have worked. :D

Ain't that peculiar. . .
Five months after getting out of the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria with a robo hip, I buy my first ever farm tractor, a Jubilee.

Along mechanical lines . . .
My left brake lock cog got jammed today, scarred the edge of that cast aluminum cover plate a bit. . . just as it started to rain. Actually it looks like the scarring happened much earlier.
Anyway I had to remove the toothed plate to unjam it. So after watching Amsoil MP do the runny milk chocolate rust number on the lever shaft and rack teeth, I wire brushed it and bolted it back on.

I'll align things better later, so that it functions optimally.
Too much side play in the brake cross shaft was a contributing factor.

Was there ever any doubt, nope not I, told ya its
a keeper. Its all down hill from here. Knowing
you-------- I bet your friend gets it back at
cost, and in time to garden. <9)))))>{

looking far ahead; once its all fixed up mechanically; maybe paint it all an off white?

Why?

then you can name it crispy cream!

(ok its monday and not enough coffee)

"Next pics we see in a week it will be painted!"

LOL I don't think this one will get fixed that fast.
It's too cold to even get the pressure washer out.
But I'll post some pictures of it when I'm done.

That's really good news. Did you end up purchasing it or will you fix it for your friend?

Glad to hear that this one can be brought back to life.

I ended up buying it Colin.
I got the feeling he didn't really want to let it go after all the work
he had already done to it but was frustrated with it after the fire.

Sure don't blame him for being frustrated.

Any signs of spring out your way? Sure is nice to have these longer days. Even with the cold weather, the snow is melting off roofs.

No doubt you were gonna get her going again.

You think your buddy will give you grief when you get her looking new again while he couldn't. Maybe he'll buy it back

He mentioned possibly buying it back actually.
I wonder if he would ever trust it again.
That had to be one scary ride for anyone.

Signs of spring? Absolutely!
It was over 30 degrees here today, snow was melting in the
sun and I saw a guy riding a motorcycle. Spring has sprung. LOL

Looks like you have a project ahead of you Royse.
Post some pictures once you get her cleaned up.
Couple more days of cold weather then up on the
30's over the week-end.

Yep, it'll be a project Leo.
I needed another project like another hole in the head too!
Oh well, guess they keep me out of trouble.
Some day maybe it'll look as good as yours! :)
