1945 2N 6v original style wiring harness, rebuilt generator (one
wire)inbeen using well and charging correctly last 5 months.
This morning started and showing no charge. My digital
mutimeter wont work, picking up an analog today.
Still using original cutout, and my first thought was sticking
points in the cutout.
Just looking for ideas, after I rule out generator.
Voltmeter works, showed discharge when I turned lights on.
thanks
Corey

"Voltmeter works"

Sorry, either you mean amp meter or all is not original. At any rate, try polarizing the generator. With engine off, momentarily connect the non grounded side of the battery to single terminal on the generator. Should be a spark. Now see if it charges.

with it running I would tap on the cut out, or jump around cutout. If it does not show charge with jumper in place, you may have a generator problem, try polarizing it with it not running be briefly jumping the two terminals on the cutout.

Update on the charging situation. Got home after work and fired it up and charging fine. Didn't change anything or tap on the cut out. I'm still thinking I had sticking points.
keep a close eye on it, I might do the diode changeover in the cutout if I keep having issues.
Thanks for the input
Corey
