Serial # ????

I went to look at a Ford tractor that was advertised as an untouched 9N. Well, wasn't really untouched. Both spindles were welded to the axles, wrong seat, wrong fenders, both axle ends had ends cut off, grill missing, oil filter canister missing. block casting badly cracked where starter mounts, bolts with big thick square washers in place of wheel studs, both lift arms welded and beefed up, forked rod to lift arms welded up,etc, etc. He thought he had something really special because it had 32inch rims and a weird serial number. 9C 11835 star. makes it a 40 9N but I have never seen the letter "C" after the 9. And, it WAS a "C". Anyone know what this letter C means??? At $1000 I passed.

Good job resisting that "bargain". If that mess is worth $1,000 then my all original 41 9N should be worth a little more than that, even with standard tires and a non-weird serial number.
