I took head off and valve covers, Got 4 out of six valves working they were all stuck to start with as I could see once got head off. Two of them will not go back down when you turn engine over. I worked 5hrs today using wd and others oils to get them to loosen up. One is just barley hanging the other is the larger one it still sticky.Do I have week springs or bent stems ??????????Got an old ford man dropping by in the mornning maybe we will figure this one out.

I would use something besides WD40. PB Blaster makes a fogging oil. I have used that with success. Also have used transmission fluid with success. May have to sit a few days - just like when you unstuck the rings.

Just think of all the stories you will have after you get er done. Hang in there man and good luck. Them old mechanics are the real deal. One of them has a shop not far from my house. I stopped by rhe other day and I learned alot in 15 minutes . This guy must be near 76 or 77 now. When I was 18 I remember him coming out and making field calls on equipment we needed worked on. I thought he was old then.

WD40 is and stands for Water Displacement formula #40 so will not help you much if any. Me I use and have used ATF to free things up and will stand by it working the best for me and has for decades. If ATF will not free them up the only way will be to remove them pull them out of the guides and clean them up or replace them
