Ford Tractor History

In case it might be of interest to some, the Mid Michigan Old Gas Tractor show in Oakley MI has chosen Ford/Fordson/New Holland to be the featured brand at our 2015 show, August 21-23. In keeping with that choice, one of our members has written an in-depth look at the history of the well known company, complete with illustrations. Take a look, and keep our dates in mind. Thank you !

Read it all the way through and sent 5 typos that I found to the webmaster Chris. Hopefully he'll pass them on to the member writer you mentioned.

Thanks,
Terry

Nice article. Thanks for posting it.
Another thing incorrect is the dates on the 2000 (3 cyl)
They were built from 1965 to 1975 - not 1979 to 1990 as stated.
The model is 50 years old this year.

The webmaster responded and is forwarding corrections to "Merle" who in charge of editing. I sent him your dates correction as well.

Thanks Fergus, Joan and I will be there again this year.
Every year a group of us YT guys get together at the show.
I don't think we've had the pleasure of meeting though?
Any others that are in the area feel free to stop in and join us!

It's a great show with working steam engines and lots going on
besides the tractor pulls, flea market and pretty tractors.
A few pics (74) from last year in this [b:bd540ad563]slideshow[/b:bd540ad563]

It is a good read and very obvious that the writer worked hard to produce it. I do question some details about the 8N specifications.
The 1952 8N Operators Manual, page 10:
"Maximum Drawbar H.P. 2nd gear 23.16
Rated Drawbar H.P. 2nd gear (75% max) 17.37
Maximum belt horsepower at 2000 R.P.M. 27.32
Rated belt horsepower (85% of max) 23.22"

Thanks for your addition to our narrative, Royse, great batch of photos. Always good to see it through another's eyes. If there is a gathering or group of you guys at the 2015 show, I'd like to get in touch as well. I can usually be found at the Track I announcer's stand. If not there, they can find me. (Frank) We appreciate the input on the article. I certainly agree that Myrle's effort shows through.

After the four Ford History books I acquired with my tractor, I found Meryl's concise history a very easy read all the way through and told him so.

He passed the history of his personal tractor restorations on to me and I'm sure it will be of interest here as well.

He wrote:
"Good looking Jubilee! Have restored a couple for other people, but don't own one. Do have a 9N and the F in the history picture is mine. Restored the F several years ago. And have restored (a major and a minor) the 9N (on home page of the MMOGTA website) twice in the 42 years I've owned it. Has a loader on it and gets used almost daily."

We enjoy it every year Frank.
Jack Wondergem usually brings at least one of his tractors,
the Oliver or JD D and brings a canopy to sit under.
We usually meet there. I'll look you up.
