Talked about the top cover for an 8N transmission in this [b:d763a0288c]post[/b:d763a0288c]

I was thinking about what I did with that extra transmission top
cover and realized that I had sold the whole transmission to a
local guy who needed gears out of it for his 8N. I made him a
pretty good deal on the whole thing, less than he could get the
gears for, so he took the whole thing home with him.
I also put him in contact with another local guy to get him
another part he needed.

Anyway, I contacted him and asked if he still had the top cover
and if he would be interested in selling it back to me. Yes he still
had it, no he wouldn't sell it. "You come get it, you can have it."

What comes around goes around! :)
Hopefully I'll have what he needs next time too.

Now a question - this top cover is off a Jubilee.
Other than the screw in filler cap, they look identical.
Any reason I can't/shouldn't use it on the 8N?

It's called "karma" my friend. You get what you give.
I'm a firm believer in it.

That's why I don't own a business. I would lose money on the first day.

Sorry but I can't answer you on the top cover.

I can not be 100% sure but I will almost bet the Jubilee one is a tad bit larger then the N one is

Except for the screw in fill cap (which is a big improvement over the 8N fill cap) the cover plate and shifter are exactly the same and will work just fine on the 8N.

Thanks John, I couldn't see any other difference, but then I
missed that spring the first go around too, so......
This one has wear on the shift gate also, but not as bad.
While I have it apart I'm going to drain the oil and check for lost parts.
It has some condensation in there, so it needs an oil change anyway.
The fun never ends!

When you come down to it is a small ford tractor
world and by doing onto other ford owners as you
would want them to do on to you pays off ten times
fold. Here's just one case it point. A guy stop by
me to buy a 3pt sprayer and asked me if I would
sell the ROPS off my ford 2000. I told him no but
would keep an eye for one for him. About a week
later I was pulling parts in a bone yard and
spotted a set of ROPS on a 2000 LCG. I called him
that night and he when out the next day and got
them for like $35. About a week later I got a
package in the mail from him containing a tail
light I had been looking for as a thank you. Then
about a month later he called me about an elenco
he found for me up in Vermont.
What comes around goes around.

Thanks Del, I looked in my parts book, but they have different
part numbers. I chalked that up to the different filler cap.
Do you have a cross-fit book like junkyards have for cars?
That would sure be cool to have!

Royce, no cross-fit book just the Master Parts Catalog which said that when the present stock of 8N-7211-B are exhausted they would be replaced by NAA-7211-A which would be the one for the Jubilee.

the country is full of great people. problem is if you watch the local news the coverage poisons you into thinking there nothing but idiots, jerks, losers, crooks, murderers and other such maniacs left on the planet.

well said !! I live in the ghetto right now and have learned to be suspicious of everybody with good reason.! I own a small farm i am trying to fix up to move to.The mobile home mover backed my trailor into a corn field and just left it! Been trying to get fellow farmers to help but they only want to help if they can farm the place for several years or sell them every thing for ten cents on the dollar ! Really makes me ashamed to admit i'm a farmer sometimes! Nice to hear of stories where people actualy treat each other like they used too !! :D

Tim keep looking.. you will find the good ones. Remember life is a big circle. Like it or not what you give you will eventually get...good or bad.
