Thermostat for the last time

Well, I hope the pic attaches. Found a thermostat the looks like the one grandpa used at my local Tractor Supply. Used a deep well 15/16 socket and hosed down the inside of the hose with WD 40.

Pointy end towards the block. And yes Dell, I checked it in a hot water bath before I installed it. Thanks your your help, your the greatest. And excuse the adult beverage, I'm retired.

The following is from Bruce's Tips. You'll see it says "pointy end towards the radiator".

25. Do use a thermostat. If you don't, the engine heats unevenly, which means it wears unevenly. A cool running engine does not heat the oil sufficiently; you will get sludge build-up in the pan as a result. The tractor came from the factory with a 160-degree thermostat; 50 years ago, must anti-freeze was alcohol based and would evaporate at temps above 160 degrees. Some folks like to use a 180 degree thermostat because a hotter running engine is better on the oil. When installing the thermostat in the upper radiator hose, the .pointy. end goes toward the radiator.[/size:d1c5edb43d] [/color:d1c5edb43d]Don't worry if you put it in backwards; as soon as the coolant gets to 212 degrees, it will boil over, because installing the thermostat backwards blocks the upper hose!

Yes, I caught that and thanks!

I read a post earlier and it was confusing to say the least. Now if I can just get a picture of where the ground cable for the battery connects to the tractor.
