I would not leave it in there. I would change the plug out to a set of NGK plugs that match the Auto liter 437 that many say to use but auto lites are now being made in China so they are going down hill fast

As said, looks like you have an anti-fouler on there. When you
change plugs (looks like they are way over due) try running it with
out it. You might also run a compression test to see what's going
on with that cylinder.
Also you need to change out that copper fuel line for a steel brake
line.

If its a non-fouler and you want know if its needed take it off and install a fresh spark plug... I don't care for them if its needed you will need to find out WHY its needed... They are a band-aid may work may not...

I brought a Farmall 140 that had 4 of'em I ran it for a 4/5 years it smoked a little and was a tad under-powered... While switching it out to 12V's ( I kill all 6V's issues with 12V's) I adjusted the valves the valves were to WAY too tight... I took the non-foulers off it perked up and stopped smoking... :D

Complete combustion can not happen with them find the issue and take care of it...

Braxie........zattza "anti-fouler". Used when you have an OIL-BURNER cylinder. Ford actually hazza part number fer it. While you DEFINITELY need to put some NEW AutoLite 437's in, DON'T throw yer "anti-fouler" away as there is probably a good reason its there. Me? I'd do full compression test, dry then wet. Iff'n #4 don't come up, you may have ring issues ...or... burned exhaust valve ...or... burned aluminum piston with hole in it.

BTW, Ford compression test specs: 90psi min. Good runnin' N-Engines about 110psi and new rebuilt engine about 125psi. And them cheap rubber tipped compression gauges ain't worth diddly-squat. I gotta compression gauge that SCREWS into the sparkie hole and its gotta 12"-rubber hoze to the gauge. Works great fer gittin UNDER the N-Gastank. ........the pressured Dell

Yep -anti-fouler as the others said. Not needed so remove, and replace al l4 plugs with new Auto-Lite 437's or Champion H12's (now 512's) as both work fine. I've had plugs Auto-Lite that were made in cheena and recently bought 4 that say made in Mexico. I also have a set of Champion H12's with made in Mexico. Calls around town to NAPA and auto supply stores varied with prices and what they stocked -most did not have Auto-Lites but said they could order them within one day. Strange, one place gave me an odd AL replacement part I never heard of. I even got two different NGK crossovers.
