Royce - I need Practice rebuilding a carb

Looking to pick up a carb to rebuild for my 8N which presently has a MS 241. I want to practice on another carb rather than the one I have, just to see how well i do on the rebuild.

I came across the pict below on an ebay listing but don't know what type of carb it is. Would you know? I also see a MS 33 carb listed.
Which leads me to the question, which MS carbs should I stick with that can directly replace my original MS 241 carb?

I can't say for sure what model carb that one is.
The color of the top half makes me think it may be from
an aftermarket replacement and just bolted to a M/S bowl.

Either the TSX-33 or a 241 will work on an 8N fine.
If you don't find one reasonably priced shoot me an email.
I'm sure I have a 241 out here that needs rebuilding.

Thank You.
I saw the color difference but did not even give it a second thought as the top being from another carb just figured they sprayed the top clean.

More than likely will take you up on your offer. Will reach out to you in a few days. Just want to continue looking to see what other folks are trying to sell.

The TSX33 was the first of 4 carbs used on the N series if I remember right. Then the TSX241A then B then C where used. I rebuild carbs all the time and it does not matter what tractor it is for I just sit down and do them

My'41 9n has a 241b and runs well with it. Some one
in the last 74 years changed it out. The 33 should
be fine as long as it's not full of crud. I've
rebuilt carbs on motorcycles,cars,even garden
tractors. Cleaning is the most important part of any
job. lha

I suppose they could have cleaned it.
Looks awfully smooth for cast iron, but hard to say from a pic.
Took a look out in the shop, I have a 241b that I have mostly
cleaned, nothing left in it but the floats.
I also have one I haven't touched yet, old and dirty. LOL

All 9/2/8N carbs were superseded by the TSX-241B. All of those carbs can and should be rebuilt to the TSX-241B specs for best performance.

Is there a comparison write-up somewhere for information purposes or at least separate specs for each?
Trying to gather up anything that I can read?

Yes there is. I'll dig it up for you. Unless GasPump has it handy.

reywolf, I got this when I was trying to figure out which one to rebuild for my tractor. Could not get a link to work so I cut and pasted this. It is from the other N site I believe.

TSX 33 9N carburetor used on tractors prior to Serial No. 260596

TSX 241 8N carburetor used on tractors between Serial Nos. 260596 and 276115 (without economizer jet).

8N-9510 TSX 241A 8N carburetor used on tractors between Serial Nos. 276115 and 313112 (with economizer jet)

TSX 241B 8N carburetor used starting with Serial No. 313112 (modified)

TSX 241C The 241C deleted the economizer jet again.

The 241C was later 8N original production and was really a cheaper built unit than the 241B it
followed. Because of this, the 241C was eventually superseded by earlier 241B.
