I did place a small barell behind my 9N with about 300 lbs to help when pushing snow with my bucket I know these tractor were made to pull not to push snow so my question is does it matter the 300 lbs and can I put more?
I know also the is something that goes on the back rim but I do not have access to this.
NOTE the reason for this question I would like to be sure it can not damage my differencial

thanks again for your help

You cannot damage the differential in your 9N by pushing snow.

If your hydraulic system is in decent condition, you should be able to add 750 lbs. or so to the three point.

For many years I used a 55 gallon drum filled with stone resting on my 3 pt hitch drawbar with no trouble. That 9n also had a Wagner Loader on it for the snow removal job. Its cylinders were double acting including the bucket. The rear tires were loaded and also equipped with chains. The engine was also equipped with a lower radiator hose heater, I think it was a 500 watt one and it did a good job.

For weight I prefer to use something like a back blade then hang suit case weights on the blade. That way you have weight but also a piece of equipment you can use. A barrel is just that weight and does nothing but hang there

Serge.......yep, notta problem. cutta couple of holes thru the barrel about 1-in HIGHER than yer 3-point rests above the ground so you don't haffta LIFT yer barrel weight to hook-up to yer 3-point. Simple, eh?

Fer the mathematically challenged; the 3-point balls shud be about 6-in above the ground so the cut barrel holes would be about 7-in above the ground. The 3-point is spec'd to lift 22-in.

FYI, yer 3-point hydraulics will lift about 1200-lbs before the front wheels come off'n the ground and you end up steering with yer rear brakes.

Bottom line, even with chains yer gonna spin-out BEFORE you damage yer diffy. .......gitt out there and PLOW .......now why am I shivering? .......Dell who needs MORE HOT KAUPHY

I made this block out of cement and re bar. Weighs around 700lbs. No issues. Although I now have power steering.

OLD - It is a multi use tool. Wood chuck stomper...

Old,

That is a [b:19d3924b1d]great[/b:19d3924b1d] idea, hanging those front weights on the blade!
