Sintered strainer

Can a missing sintered strainer on a MS carb be replaced? Where can I get one if so. Called my local JD dealer. He said he doesn't carry them and doesn't know if he can get them anymore. Trying to fix a friends carb that had it missing and had the hole plugged with silicone.

A search of the archives tells me the JD part number is 95-78.
To be honest, I normally find them painted over, not missing,
so I have never tried to buy one. Finding a different bottom
half/bowl for the carb might be easier.

Richard, I am the person that originally posted the JD information.

95-78 is the Marvel Schebler part number that the John Deere parts system actually recognizes.

The DEERE dealer can still get it, the price has got a bit ridiculous, at some $11, and if you have them get it on their weekly stock order there should be NO special order freight.

I realize the dealer has multi-million dollar deals doing on with the price of farm machinery today, but it's just SILLY they couldn't give you a straight answer, when the info is live on their parts computer!

Or, you can try a net search for the original part number, 9N9692, which is apparently NLA from FIAT/New Holland.

Somewhere in the past GB posted about replacing
the part with a piece of felt and a screw. I have
used this technique with success. Let the extra
fuel drip out and keeps dust from getting in.

Richard,Royce also, Here are some that would work as a replacement. You would just have to tap pipe threads 1/8" or 1/4"I don't remember what size is in there, into the drain hole that would be better than just knocking one in and the chance of it falling out.Good price to!
