8n governor

On my 51 8n the engine does not start reading up till you have the throttle lever half way up the plate it will rev down I felt the throttle arm on the governor and it moves sideways quite a bit could it just be loose on there and need tightened?

Nick167 ,The governor arm is probably worn at the bushing pivot.You may try tightening up the spring if its loose at idle throttle lever position.If it is just squeeze the spring together length wise with a big pair of channel locks til it is just sug (no free play)at idle.That will also bring the RPMs back up to 2200.

Thank you I will try that it was weird because it was working fine when I pulled it in the shop 2 months ago
