I went to buy new Autolite 437 sparkplugs for my 48 8n today. 437s are discontinued. I bought Autolite 86 plugs but these are resistor plugs. 437s are not. Autozone couldn't find the replacement plug. Does anyone know what the new 437 equivilent in today?

Got some at O'Riley's about 2mos ago but they had to order them. I didnt need them right away and no shipping.

You need to go somewhere other than Autozone.

At least as long ago as 2007, it was discussed on here that Autozone was already clueless as to these plugs.

They appear to be readily available elsewhere.

On-line, for example, Summit Racing will sell you all you want with immediate availability.

P.S.... now I see this very sire has them for sale, as well, in the parts section.

BTW have them look them up for a 1962 AMC Custom 3.2L 196CI L6 Carb

Autolites are garbage enny ways....

Auto lite has gone to the dog in China from what O have been told so yep they is going to get bad soon

Don't hold me to this but I have read NGK are made in the USA..
I do like Denso's will have to cross reference the #'s....

I have also read Autolite moved there production on some plugs back to Mexico if that make a difference...

Ill hold ya to it, and your right They are USA
and Autolite are made in the land of not even
close.

Hobo if don't mind post up what numbers you are using in NGK and Denso. I have always used autolites but I can't stand how quickly they rust on the outsides.

A lot of stuff is coming back, got a Stanley tool
box Made in USA West Star in Tenn. has USA Copper
Core ready made spark plug wires 4cyl under
$20.00. Buck knives at Cabelas are USA made just a few years ago all made in china I am through with Autolite the last ones were ping pongs as you stated.

Paul.......NGK B4L's are too cold, gitt B6L's, equivalent to AutoLite 437's. .......sparkie-meister Dell

jmac......while champion N12's are warmer than the original spec H-10's, the still fowl faster than the recommended AutoLite 437's. .......sparkie-meister Dell

I've used Champion H-10's (original part specified in books); AUTO-LITE 437's, and recently went to Champion H-12's and have never had any problems with any of them. I mean my 8N started right up in cold weather, sometimes single digit weather, but that is mostly because I always do the pre-winter preventive maintenance procedures like tune-up, oil change, etc. and a few years the tractor wasn't shedded -it sat out with only a canvas tarp protecting it.

The denso # was rite in front of me :?

Denso
W14L Standard Spark Plug
Part No. 6013

All I did was get a old autolite book out and go to the application & specifications guide look up 437.

66-60 Studebaker - AMC

Then go to Advance on line and look for a AMC that meet the 437 spec's... BTW the heat range is C7,,, The NGK were in stock the densos would have to come from the manufacturer..

NGK RALEIGH DEPOT PDQ39 #139

Getting plugs at a parts store can be a challenge for some unknown reason there mumblejumble of the numbers are not universal. Its up to the supplier to pick the reference # I recon...

NGK
Stk # -3112
NGK Part # - B4L

Hobo thanks a bunch.
I really never put too much faith in those cross reference guides since they're really not 100% accurate. I really go on someone's proven experience. For instance the autolites 437's cross reference to an NGK B4L but Dell's feels that the NGK B6L Fairs better

For what it's worth,I had a set of H-10s in my '41 9n for about 4 years,and when I did a tune up,they were still good,so I cleaned them,and they are still in it after 6-7 years.

rainy miserable icy day so I took a ride down to AutoZone picked up 8 champion H-12 plugs for $.95 apiece.

Kid had NGK B6L's on the counter at $2.50 a piece till I had him check on the champions. No brainer

Champs are now made in the land of almost right so while they might work they are likely to get bad sooner then later

Just look up the H10C and the H10 and get there specs.
Look for heat range thread size and reach. if the reach too far, I believe but not quite sure that the piston can smack into them.

I found a box of NGK B6S's in my shop but reluctant to use them since the their reach is shorter 3/8" than the comparable reach of an H-10 or 12 or auto-lite 437 which is 7/16". In my case probably would not matter.
