8N thermostat

I need a thermostat for my 1948, pre-S.n. 163844 front mount. The parts book says for my tractor: Part# 9N8575-A1 (a 1 after the "A" and no B2NN prefix). However, parts for sale on this site only lists: Part No: B2NN8575A. Is this the same part, or do I have to keep looking? There is no thermostat in the machine now (previous owner), so I cannot measure, compare, etc.

It's the same part; new number.

More than likely, it's a 160* t-stat. Lots of folks (myself included) prefer a 180* t-stat.

Try A&I part # A-11C15 or Beck/Arnley part # 143-0024 or NAPA part number THM 184 for 180* in hose t-stats.

The car parts store folks are helpless w/o vehicle make/model/year info. Some can/will actually search on the number & cross reference, but more often than not, you will just get a dumb look. HINT: find a clerk near the age of your tractor..... ;) Try telling them that the t-stat is for your 1977 Renault R12 1.6L L4.

All of my 180* t-stats are A&I A-11C15’s. They are a tight fit in an N hose, but they will fit. I’ve never used the Beck/Arnley or NAPA t-stats so I can’t help you w/ anything there but the part numbers.

Bruce I have used the Napa THM 184 before and can tell you that it works pretty well. Like your A&I t-stats the Napa one also fits tight. Could be cause I also replaced the hose.
Gave it a shot of Silicon Spray and it worked its way right in.

dahermit.......remember POINTY end towards the radiator.

2nd observation, the thermostat picture shown in the FO-4 is NOT the current thermostat being sold.

And yeah, the 180* is the cats meow. It really has more to do with preventing sparkie fouling than keepin' the driver warm.

3rd tip: DIP the end of yer COLD STIFF radiator hoze in boiling water and yer thermostat will slip right in. Simple, eh? .......longjohn Dell who "smokes" when he breathes.

Mark.......well good for you. Since they don't sell the original style enny more, my remarks to dahermit still stands. Pointy end towards the radiator.......respectfully, Dell

I bought several of the beck/arnely 180 thermostats a while back. They were just reboxed motorad brand thermostats which you can buy at any O'Reillys for less money than the beck/arnely brand. Luckily I only gave about $3.00 a piece for the ones I bought.

Just ordered 2 beckly's from rock auto for 3.17 each and 2.64 delivered to the door. They are having a close out.

That's where I got mine from.
