Yes I asked this before but can't find my post...what year ford flatheads work with the n series? I've found 2 close to me but.....they're both stuck..he isn't sure on yr gonna check # in the morning he said. Wants $350/each...both are complete...from my observations rebuilds aren't cheap correct? He has a ford f-5 army truck missing box for sale for $3000 obo which is how I found out he has 2 flatties out. TIA

Lisa........in 1949, Ford changed the rear of the flathead V-8 and that made it compatible with the N-tractor. In 1954, Ford changed to OHV-V8. Theres nuttin' like a full-dress flattie that'll make my heart go pitter-pattie. .......Dell who overhauled his 1952 V-8 in 1959, man did those dual glass packs sound authoritative

You don't need an expensive cast iron adapter ring . 1 piece of 1/4 flat steel cut out with the bell housing figure , 1 piece with the block figure and a piece of 1/4 x 1-1/2 flat bar curled into a ring , then weld the three pieces together .

You will want to stub two pieces down to connect to a frame for the front end .

Then you can add a fuel injected 4 cyl , 6 , flathead , OHV , ???

I have several flatheads in cars and my 46 pickup,so I am
familiar with prices. In my opinion $350 is too much to pay for
an engine that might not be rebuildable. I've seen running
engines removed because the owner wanted to swap in a later
drivetrain. You can get one of these for a little more,$500
range.

good info..when i was 13 overhauled my first chev 6cl in my 52 with 3 carbs n factory headers.offen a corvette..straight pipes got me stopped a lot..could change trany in 30 mins..

Soaked two new class packs in oil & put them on a '55 ford with a rebuilt engine, six duce's (carbs), and a Hearst 4-speed floor shifter. Wasn't a car around that could touch it! Only problem, lots of tickets, you could hear the car coming from 5 miles away!
