Sleeve Driver

Could you guys post pictures of what you use to install your own cylinder sleeves? Zane mentions using part of an old axle and flange. Also does anyone here make a sleeve driver? i'm interested in doing my next one instead of taking block to machine shop.
Thanks

I forget, also a sleeve puller if anyone makes one.
thanks

TOH who posts here "used" to sell custom made sleeve pullers and installers. I got Serial Number 001 of the hand installer you bang them in with. All very quality tools I have now used three times. Might want to check with him.

Good Luck,
Dan

Where in TN? I have one you could use if you are close. I am in Fayette County. E-mail should be open.

Thanks JWA but i'm in Christiana, about a hour southeast of Nashville. i'll probably buy one because I have an 801 waiting for me after this 2N.
Thanks again

Here ya go. You will find the sleeve tools in the navigation bar under Products and Services -> Ford Engine Sleeve Service Tools. The sleeves in the 134 and 172 are very similar to the .090 wall sleeves used in the late 8N and easy to drive in and out. It s the .040 wall sleeves that are a bit harder to deal with.

Thanks, looks just like what i need. For some reason pictures wouldn't load of kits 120P, Master, or Pro. not sure which I will go with as I have a 801 waiting for me this next winter season. I have the thin wall on my 2N so the extention driver would be a must for me. if i could get pictures of all tool kits, i would make up my mind better.
thanks

The pictures didn't load for me either but I can testify to the quality as I personally own a set and the dealer I work for bought one as well.

Bob,

A bit unorthodox but I used the jack off my 12 ton press and a chain around the block . Squared them up by hand and used the jack to press them in--actually worked pretty well!! Doesn't compare to the kits TOH makes, but being careful, mission complete!!

Forgot to add I used a welder and put 4 beads down each sleeve. Used a punch and they came out without much effort at all. Be careful not to burn through the old sleeve but if you are careful, it will work!!

bwilso.......would you believe I use DRY-ICE? Make a wooden spool with a jigsaw fer top and bottom and a cut-off broom stick to semi-match the length of the cylinder. Now buy some dry ice chips from grocery store or ice cream place. Using LEATHER gloves, stuff the "hollow" of the spool inside the sleeve with chipped dry-ice. The sleeve will shrink in overall diameter and ittza no-sweat installation into yer block. Now push the spool out the bottom of yer cylinder and catch the chips innna plastic bucket. The sleeve will expand to fit TITE in the block. Simple, eh?

Dry ice usually sells fer about $1/lb. Buy 5-lbs.

While I greatly admire TOH "precision" sleeve installer, my dry-ice trick works good too. .......frosty Dell

The dead image links have been fixed (I think).

I used 2 short 2x6's backed by 1/8" plate with 1/2" all thread thru the center, heat the block in front of a space heater and fill the sleeve w/dry ice, just did a model A this way also.

(quoted from post at 01:40:04 01/08/15) I have K.R.Wilson OEM Ford sleeve service kit with added parts for other size sleeves
compleat in a mahogany fitted case

The periodically show up on eBay and sell for $300+ depending on how nice and how complete. Your's look like this?
