Snow blower

This topic comes up about this same time every year.
And the answer is always the same.
Ns are very good at a Lot of things but there are a couple of things they are lousy at. One is running a rototiller and the other is running a snowblower. Both for the same reasons.
One they are WAY too fast a groundspeed and secondly they don't have live pto.
Additionally they don't have live hydraulics which isn't as big a factor as the other two but does add to make them a PIA for snow blower work.
One other thing, single stage snow blowers like that one are not very effective for any kind of snow other than very light, fluffy stuff.
To effectively run a a 2 stage blower that wide in wet or heavy snow it takes a good 80 HP.

Ultra dog-- I hate to disagree about a snow blower on a 8'N but I have had a 7' Erskine on my 8-n since the early 70's that I bought at Cater & Odegard in St. Cloud, Mn. This blower is the v type that you either drive over the snow or lift the 3 point and back up as far as you can and drive forward. I have backed into banks of hard snow that ended up being 3-4'deep.This blower was built in the late 40's as a 5' and someone widened it to 7'. Yes there are times I would like 20 more hp. but I wouldn't part with it. It has 2 u joints and 2 pillow block brgs.
