2N air cleaner

So I just bought a project 2N. The entire air cleaner assembly
is missing. I do not know much about Ford tractors, but I can
tell that it had an intake coming through the hood. What I need
to know is, will an air cleaner for an 8n work and if not where
can I find one for a 2n? I'm having no luck finding a picture of
this air cleaner. Thanks

8N is different because the intake was through the side of the
hood. 9N or 2N would work.
The vertical through the hood intake on the 9N/2N was a dealer
installed option. The others fit entirely under the hood.
I have some out here I can get you pictures of, not sure I have
one worth selling, but I'll look. Might not get to it until Tuesday.

P.S. Welcome to the forum!

I probably have an under the hood standard air cleaner for the 2n. If you install it you would still have a hole in your hood. Would you also need the the air cleaner pipe that goes to the carb?
If you are going to hunt around for one that goes thru the hood I would not run the tractor too long without one especially in dusty conditions. You can always run a motorcycle style air filter until you find what you need. They are probably not as good as the oil bath filters but will help keep dust and debris out of the system.

Here's an 8N style. Note the large rectangular opening on the upper left.

If you find one, it will probably be full of dirt. Sometimes if you try to take the inside mesh wire out, you can not get it back in.

I just soaked my old air filter in a bucket of kerosene for 6 hours, then rinsed it out with clean kerosene until the kerosene ran clean.

Then let it drip dry for 24 hours, added oil an reinstalled the filter, tractor ran fine.

You will be surprised how much dirt is in the old filter.

Here is an air cleaner on eBay:

Wow! At that price I'm going to clean mine and paint it blue!
Or maybe I can coat it in platinum! LOL

Here is the one I have. It's a standard under the hood style for 9n/2n. Dents were removed and painted primer. The cup was not painted. Because of the U I think it's a United. I am pretty sure I don't have the pipe to the carb but will check later today and if I do will throw it in.
