A little OT - Ya'll recognize this ashtray?

GB in MT sent it to me. Couldn't pass up posting a photo.
I'll let him fill in the history if he chooses to do so.
The second one is an ashtray I've had around for a "while".
I always get a kick out of that one too.
Looks like I should polish the brass dog, but that sounds bad!

I like yer 'dog ashtray'......I can see where yer smokes might taste funny tho!!!
That Firestone ashtray has been around with me for a LONG time, since the mid-70's, as far as Les and I figured!!!
Don't think there is any replacements for that one, anymore.!!???

BTW: If ya turn the carb stand rings over.....the carb won't lean quite as bad.!!!! BUT....they are yers now...do what ever trips yer trigger!!!

Classic!

We had one of those Firestone ash trays at home when I was a kid. Tough glass . . . me and my brothers never broke it.

If you Brasso the dog and watch him oxidize again
how long will it take to give him this look?
He might not look as good the second time around . . . hmmm
very serious question . . .

Shine him up but then really soap and water clean him for the best color changes as time goes on . . .

For 30 years I worked at the Firestone plant that made AG tires (not the ashtrays) These were promotional items handed out at Farm shows etc. We could buy them for a couple of bucks at the company store. I had one but gave it away when we quit smoking 25 years ago.

If you look at his ebay store, he has one from just about every make of tire manf.

Being a cigar smoker a Goodyear tray would look good in my garage where it is the only place I am allowed to have one.

My grandfather had a tire ashtray on his desk at his garage when I was a kid. Pretty sure it said Atlas tires on it. He was a Standard Oil dealer. I haven't seen an Atlas tire in 30 years
