spring clip to keep rotor in place

i recently posted about missing rotor, my bad ,i was looking at bottom of the dust cover that was stuck to distribtor cap, when i got dust cover out of cap there was the rotor but i didnt see the spring clip to hold rotor on, when you buy a points replacement kit do you get this spring clip in the kit?. also it seems i cannot leave the dust cover out because the cap wont secure wnd is loose without dust cover.

Nope.

The dust cover was added for a reason.

But if you insist on not using it, then you will need a new cap.

And, if the cap has carbon tracks or the brass t1ts are burned, you will need a new cap anyway.

Why would he need a new cap if he doesn't use the dust shield?

Until you get that spend clip in the mail, put a couple small pieces of masking tape on the top and sides of the shaft and out rotor on, it will work till the clip shows...

I will have to check mine, but I thought i used it some without the dust cover. I only see one cap available. the side clips may be the issue, i think in his original post he said one was missing?
