Carb freezing up

Just wondering what you guys do to prevent the carb freezing up while cold with high humidity.
43 2N 6 volt
While attempting to open up driveway from 10 - 12" snow tractor died 2 ft into road. Had plenty fuel from bottom of carb. Did notice much ice on carb. Did this a few times last year also.
Jumped from battery to coil to rule out ignition. But no attempt to fire thus leading me to believe carb icing up.
Once ice melted, tractor fired right up
A friend suggested 70% iso alcohol at about 1/2 - 1 cup per 5 gallons gas.
Thoughts/suggestions/recommendations ?
Thank You, Norm

I always added a bottle of dry gas to my 9N Ford, and never had a problem. You can get it at a Walmart or auto parts store.

I just add one of these every time I fill the tank during the winter. No problems.

No need to bother with HEET now that most gas is already 10% ethanol.

HEET is just methanol, I use it to run alcohol stoves as it is much cheaper than ethanol without all the consumption taxes.

The old 235 cu in Chevy's had a "heat riser" in the manifold; it closed when the engine (and carb) got hot.

As Harold said, make a heat jacket for the carb out of tinfoil. And, unless you're burning Ethanol free gas, don't bother adding HEET as Cameron said.

That is the nature of a carb and is just how they work. You either need to let it warm up more before using it or you can if you have one lay a canvas tarp over the hood/engine to hold the heat in.

If you are running ethanol gas, then there is absolutely no reason to put drygas in it - you've already got 10% alcohol in the tank, a little yellow bottle more won't be enough to make a difference.

70% household alcohol is even worse - dump a pint of it in your tank and you are dumping in a half a cup of water

Might sound like a silly suggestion, but try running it at a lower
RPM until it warms up to normal/full operating temperature.

Thanks for the replies.
Gonna have to create a heat shield as the icing up occurred after working it for almost 30 minutes. It has done this in the past as well with air temps in the upper 30s.

So true. If you fill your N's tank with E10 there will be a GALLON of alcohol in there. That 6 oz HEET bottle wont change anything.
