History question - hat rims

If I have this right, the '54 NAA was the last tractor made with
hat rims and the 600 series had 6 loops.
If that's the case, did Ford continue to have hat rims made for
replacements, or did they just replace them with 6 loops?
Question is purely curiosity. I'm wondering if any existing hat
rim has to be made in 1954 or earlier.

1955 and 1956 Ford parts catalogs show both the hat and the loop rims available. 1958 parts catalog shows only the loop style rim.

Thanks John, so they could be purchased new until 1956.
Probably some NOS/dealer inventory after that too.
Still makes all the survivors 55 years old or more.
Must have been made from good metal!

Good metal and no calcium chloride. Also, I'm sure, over time many sat outside and left wet from mud holes or rain that could seep into the channel. I have over 30 of them from very nice to some with reparable rusty some that may be scrap. One old rim is currently my backyard fire ring. They all are NFS.

Not For Sale, are they your retirement fund? LOL
They will probably be worth more the longer you have them!

That's a lot of Fords John!
I'm in that range on tractors too, but not all Fords.
Somehow Joan's Farmalls keep creeping in here, then
there's an Allis, a JD, etc. that like to hang out. LOL
Here are a few "playing baseball" on the 4th of July.

Shoot I have around 30 tractors on the place. Granted not all of them are complete any more but a good number are. Every year when I do hay I have 5 or more in the field. I hate changing machines so I just use a lot of tractors to run 2 balers the rake and sickle mower and haybine and then one with a loader

I only have one that doesn't run, a Farmall F12 for parts.
It will probably be yard art when I get the one in the picture
finished. Either that or I will part it out. Engine is seized.

I believe it is easier to hide a new acquisition if they all look something alike and in the same colors.
I do have a descent '52 8N with a Sherman combination available for $1400. But, no rush.

Don't give up on a seized engine unless it has been sitting in the weather with the head off. I pour MM oil in all cylinders for a month. I would put a little pressure on the crank every so often. If you can put some reverse pressure using forward gear and rock backwards. Rust is strong but not impossible.

I have better luck if the head had been taken off... It saves me the aggravation of trying to free it with the head on...

I might be interested in that 8N John.
My email is open if you want to discuss it.
