I was out bush hogging the meadow recently when I heard a bang. I looked back to see that I had just run over my grill! It's a goner. No way to beat it back into shape. "Original" grills are pretty danged costly. Have any of you ever used the reproduction grills that are found on this site and other places? They look the same but I want to be sure that the fit is good.

The cheapest one doesn't look very good when installed but the one for $78 looks good.

Roger that. It's just that I hate to spend big bucks on a working tractor.

I ordered 2 from completetractor on ebay this summer. They look nice and fit pretty good. I believe it was this one. Price is a little cheaper than when I got mine. I paid 150 for 2

Lisa, I may give that one a shot. Good price with free shipping.

Thanks!

Ya missed my point,There are ones on ebay off

I didn't miss your point. It's just that you happen to be wrong, at least at the moment. There is only ONE original equipment grill for sale on eBay right now and it's really rough and dented up at the bottom.

There are a lot of NEW "restoration" quality grills that are more expensive than the repops so I assume they are better. But there aren't any OEM grills currently listed. I've looked several times.

Them grills are almost cheap enough that cutting one up to fit around the front mounted pump for FEL

Same thing happened to my husbands when his friend was brush hogging on his tractor...pushing over a tree in the woods with the mint grill...grill fell off...mower shredded it...I still have the pieces just so I can give him a hard time every time he sees it. Makes me want to put a repop on mine and stash mine away in a shed.

Google"9N grill ebay", take 2 link-4 old grills on first
page. Some are 8N some maybe 9 and 2 you will find what you need if ya keep looking.

If all else fails you can cut up a Jubilee grill and install it upside
down. Just cover it with a HUGE bumper! LOL

I use to keep one of these around I took a quick look and did not see one in my stash. It is a very nice grill for the money and even had tear drop bars...

Hobo, what kind of condition is in it? Can you send some pictures? How much would you want for it?

Before you go to any trouble with pictures.... earlier today I made an offer on one on eBay and haven't heard back from the guy. If he accepts my offer, I'm stuck. If he doesn't I'll let you know.

But I'd still like to know your price.

Thanks.

Here is what a cheapo aftermarket grille looks like.
It does nothing for the look of the tractor just
helps protect the radiator. The fit is ok even with
the banged up hood. For a worker it severs the
purpose.

I often go by weight when buying sheet metal parts, it's an easy way to evaluate how durable they will be compared to the original.

I contacted Completetractor for more info, and while they wouldn't tell me who made it (just that it was an aftermarket import, no surprise) they said it weighed in at exactly 10lb.

Someone (Hobo I think) posted on an earlier thread that the originals were 11lbs and the Sparex 7-1/2 lb. If so the completetractor lloks like a good deal, especially since its only a few dollars more than the nasty cheapos with the square tabs.

Kirk the banged up side has a better looking fit than the straight side.

Just put an order in to completetractor. I have to cut the bottom out for my pump but figured for the tear drop tubes and the price, it could not be beat.

I gave a homeade one out of heady duty wire mesh
with the pump cut out last year. Not pretty but for
a worker protected the radiator.

That's right close to the weight... Looking at them I don't know why the sparex weighs less it looks like a original...

Lisa, That's zackly what I did,,, fixed up a junker hood and put a sparex grill on it for one of my workers... I put the grill in the parts room and stored the hood... I told my wife if I passed before her to sell it for big $$$$$... Good original tin for a N is pricless....

Sparex grill with junk'er hood...

Hey Hobo, I tried to PM you regarding that grill but your mail is turned off. Perhaps you can contact me.

I'm interested.
