i have an 8n early one, it has no breaks if i standon pedal it will stop eventally i had wheels off and shoes soaked with oil cleanded dried and sprayed shoes with elect. cleaner small improvement. have couple moves to make before breaks and seals done is there anything i can spray throughj adjustmnent slot to give me some breaks for short time doesnt seem to be anuy oil indication on back of drums. any tricks to get some temporary breaks before I repair.

If the shoes were soaked good they may never stop good. Son people soak em in gas I naotha, nor BBQ them.. If they showed wear, I'd replace them with the seals. Did u check shoe thickness and drum wear (ridge)

you can shoot a can of break cleaner through the hole, might slow ya down a bit for a while. I did it on mine, helped till I got on a side hill and they leaked again. I use the boat anchor method of brakes on my 48, drop the blade when its time to stop, lol. gotta do hubs and seals and breaks one of these days on mine also, but it needs a lot of other bits first

ill try the break cleanert again but you gave me a good idea, i have a reaar scoop it weighs a ton ill put it on and drop it when i have to stop
I can pull trailer with front ball.i always get good info here. thanks

When it comes to brakes, sometimes you have to resort to extreme measures.

Lower you Hydraulic fluid level a little. 4 and a half gallons instead of the full 5 gallons will help. Get you some new seals in there. I cook off the oil on the pads with a torch. Not that hard the pull the hub. Not going to get much done trying to spray something in there. These Ns are bad about leaking.
