Stuck engine

My 8n motor seems stuck. Obviously I am a novice mechanic. I raised both back wheels off the ground. Wheels move freely while in gear but motor does not seem to turn over. Front pulley doesn't move and I can't feel any compression in spark plug hole. I thought I could rock the wheels and free up engine. It seems that while in gear the wheels turning should turn over engine. Is there something broke? How should I free up engine? It's been in a dry barn.

If the engine is stuck, granny I gear, and rears off ground, spinning one rear forward should spin the other in reverse

Now, you have the plugs out right? Tho I to check for hydro lock / fluid I the cyls.

Next, pull the starter, drive gear may be in the Bendix. Still nothing?

Block clutch and see if you and a buddy can spin both rears same direction, if you can clutch is not stuck.

Try baring engine over again using crank nut or crowbar in ring fear

Ps, did this suddenly happen, or its been setting.. Etc

I would pull the spark plugs and put ATF in the cylinders.
Or ATF/Acetone mix, Diesel fuel, etc.
Let it soak for a week or so.
Then put the wheels on the ground and rock the tractor in gear.
Wouldn't hurt to pull the starter too. They get stuck pretty good!

You can spin one wheel till the cows come home with both off the ground and NEVER move the engine due to the Diff. You need to fill the cylinders with ATF nothing else but ATF and then put the plugs back in and let it sit a week. Then pull the plugs and put a 12 volt battery in and use short fast taps on the starter button and see if it frees up. BTDT 20 plus times and almost all of the engine I did that to freed up including a 1951 8N that had the oil drain plug out of it for a decade
