Not a happy 8N camper;(

Forum Members,
Has been unseasonably cool/cold in central Minnesota lately so I needed to plug in the hose heater this morning. Heard a peculiar snap in the hose heater area when plugging it in. Attempted to start the 8N and found the hose heater was cold;( It is causing the circuit breaker to open. Where is the short?? Any and all thoughts are welcome.

Mr. T,

Your choices for the cause of the electrical trouble are 1) The extension cord and its end plugs, 2) The heater cord and its male plug, 3) The heating element inside of the heater. If the cord and plug s test out OK, then it's time to buy a new tank heater. I don't think anything bigger than 750 watts is necessary as that will put out enough heat to get you going and minimize the electrical load on that particular circuit which is tripping.

Good luck, and stay warm!

Bruce,
No, it is not my fault:) Attempted several times to make it work and it continued to pop the standard circuit breaker. This hose heater is not that old??
Expect to change it shortly before we drop into the "Siberian Express" season!

GFI stands for Ground Fault circuit breaker so if that is what it is hooked to could went have some sort of ground causing the breaker to trip. Of course it could well also just be shorted out inside and needs to be replaced
