anyone have a easy way to install the plugs back have the old ones out and block is now nice and clean.THANKS BILL

Bill........make certain the "lip" in the block is clean and "square". Install yer freeze plug DOME OUT. Then finda socket thats about 1/2-diameter of the freeze plug, putta extension in backwards so you have a "solid" face against yer dome. Now WHACKER with a ball-pein hammer cupple of times. Simple, eh?

Those that are sphincterly challenged will want to put some sorta "glue" on the lips. Me? Just cleaner and WHACKER couple of times. .........BIG HAMMER Dell

Tom, I am SO sorry you were offended by the link I posted to the official website of the company that traces it's ancestry back to the invention of the Welch plug.

I have posted the link a couple of times before, and it seemed a person or two got some benefit from it.

I shall TRY be become more politically correct and not post such offensive information, and (hopefully) if I do I will post a disclaimer that "TOM N MS" should avert his eyes, so as not to be offended!

(quoted from post at 17:34:23 11/22/14) Amazing how something so simple can be turned into a ridiculously complicated mess on paper.

You are mistaking detailed for complicated. The described procedures are not complicated - simply comprehensive. Main points from the description:
  • [*:035cf24576]The first half of the document describes how to machine the various types of welch plug holes.[*:035cf24576]When installing a replacement plug inspect the hole for damage prior to installing the new plug. Use the guidance provided for #1 above as a basis for the inspection[*:035cf24576]Use the correct size and type of plug for the hole - again use the guidance from #1 to identify those parameters.[*:035cf24576]Use a properly sized and shaped driver to install the plug.[*:035cf24576]Install the plug to the proper depth[/list:eek::035cf24576]If you are installing welch plugs in places that will be inaccessible after the engine is reassembled you would be well advised to understand and follow those guidelines. Short cutting them is a good way to wind up doing a subsequent tear down to fix a leaking plug.
