Re: OT-Stihl Chain Saw Trouble

Adjusting it is one thing, supplying parts is
another. The local Stihl dealer only supports parts
for ten years. Had to pick some electrical parts
off a saw in the junk pile. Then that saw was sold.

How long before the manufacturer's realize that limiting
parts support like that is counter to a quality brand
identity? Heck they're saying after ten years the saw we
made is junk! So the consumer begins to think "Why spend
the extra money for the premium brand when the parts supply
will dry up before I can wear it out?" I'll save the money
and buy a box store unit! Heck I had to go into my
Weedeater line trimmer this year, carb kit, fuel line and
crankcase gasket. This thing is around 20 years old and a
Poulan/ Home Depot big box store special and got the parts
with no problem. Got to thinking about how old it was when
I saw the "Made in America" sticker on it. I'd be real
upset if I'd spent the extra $50 to get a Stihl line
trimmer and parts support ended before support on the cheap
Poulan did!
