I sure wouldn't say that most days, but trying to pull a
9 shank cultivator with my 9N this morning one of us
needed more weight! LOL

Thanks for the pictures. I pull the same Cultivator in our garden on odd days with a TEA 20 Ferguson. On even days I pull the little beast with a John Deere 520
Bob....

Set that 75 lb wheel weight up there. Did you ever
find a use for it? Did the filters work on any of
your Fords?

The way I fixed that on a set up sort of like that was set a old wheel weight over the center link hook up then hooked up the center link. 150lbs make it work a whole lot better

I have given you guys the wrong impression.
The cultivator digs fine. Too well in fact!
The tractor front wheels pull about two inches off the ground
and then the rears just sit and spin. Not enough weight on the
tractor to pull that cultivator. Rear tires are already loaded.
I'll get the 960 out and hook it behind that to "git 'er done",
then run the disk behind the ole 9N. Better on gas! :)

I still got that weight, haven't put it to use yet, but it will fit.
If you look in the top right corner of that first pic, you can see
the tractor I plan to put the filters in. Haven't tried them yet.
Schedule got crazy this summer and I didn't get a round tuit. :(

Settle down there Tall T, don't want to burst your hat! LOL
Yes, removing some shanks would help pull it with the 9N.
There's just not enough lead in the rear of that tractor.
It did give that "new" 241b carb a good test though.
Nothing like working them to see if they'll work! :)

I had watched this previously and was simply repeating Ted's advice for when the load is too much for your tractor weight. At 1:44 he recommends removing the outer shanks and trying that first.

I've seen that video and it's good advice. I wish I had a
50HP 4x4 to pull a 7 shank in already tilled ground!
I was trying to pull 9 shanks in over-grown clay behind
a 2 wheel drive, 73 year old 9N.
Yeah, I was pretty much dreaming. LOL
It did pull it through, but since I have a Zane Thang on
my 9N I had to set the draft where I wanted it, so the
operator may have limited the tractor's ability.

My Dearborn "digger" will bring the 8N to a complete standstill, even with CaCl filled rears and our sandy loam.

Colin, my soil is like yours and I don't have that problem unless I hook a root or rock when it's running a 6" deep. Of course that's plowed ground.

Rick

Yup, I have one of those, too much unless going through my tilled
garden. Bought a F.F. 5 footer with 6 tines, works a lot better for
making food plots than the large one.

Rick, You've just got to try harder. 6" ain't all that deep! :) I've got a full complement of shanks (11, if I recall) and 4" shovels. That's a lot of dirt to moved.

Colin

What model is that one back there with the cab on it? Thats a good lookin outfit. I'd be trying to use it this time of year.=) P.S. you guys need to fix your fences up there. Some of your dang snow got out and is headed out way=(........

Tim, that's a 335 Industrial.
It needs a clutch and I haven't gotten to it.
The fence has been fixed.
Into a funnel shape pointing South! :D

LOL Colin, I got a little more lead in my ask too! I bet I've got close to 100 pounds on you.
