Setting Up New Carb

Just bought, recieved and installed a new "Black Cast Iron" carb from Yesterday's Tractors. Was curious if anybody has installed one and "tuned" it. I ran out of light tonight and wont be back to until next weekend. Idle and main mixture settings? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

We all do it a bit differently, but I bottom the the main
adjustment screw gently and then turn it out 1 1/2 turns.
Turn the idle air screw all the way in, again gently, then
turn it out one turn. That should at least let the tractor start.
Run it until it warms up good.

At idle, warm, adjust the air adjustment for the fastest idle.
Then adjust the idle speed to 4-500 RPM.

I adjust the main adjustment needle while running at full throttle.
Turn it out until it makes no difference, then in until I hear it make a change.
Then turn it back out an eighth of a turn or so.

Idle it back down and re-adjust the idle circuit and idle speed.
Lather, rinse, repeat so to speak, as changing the main adjustment
screw will affect the idle mixture.
I might do that three or four times.

Once I have those where I want them I go test it under real load.
Rarely do I have to adjust it after that process, but if I do have to open the
main mixture screw a bit, it is normally not enough to hurt anything.
I just check the idle mixture and speed to make sure they are still Ok.

Thank you! I was lucky when I got my tractor as it ran like a top. Would do a tune up each year and all was well. Then came ethanol gas and lack of attention to details on my part.

I had one of those on my Jubilee and in general was reasonably
happy with it but for some reason, no matter how much I fiddled
with it I could never get a smooth low-speed idle. Eventually I
did a complete rebuild on a spare original carb and it'll now
happily idle below 300 RPM.

I hear Royse does a great job of rebuilding them!

I did keep my old one :D
Please don't junk that old one!
My email is open if you want to have it rebuilt or sell it.
