Ford 641 Seat Adjustment

Just purchased a Ford 641. The seat adjustment is at it's lowest point. Is there a way to adjust the seat up? I see bumpers & also a threaded rod behind the seat but it is rusted bad & didn't want to start forcing it to turn if this would not help in raising the seat height. Any suggestions to raising the seat height would greatly be appreciated.

It's called a "Rest-O-Ride " seat.

The threaded rod adjusts the tension on the large shocks for the weight of the driver, not height. (It had a decal on it telling you the approximate adjustment by weight)

The seat can be rebuilt w/ new bushings & shocks for $100 or so if needed.

Take the seat off the tractor. Remove the two studs in the top cover. Put a 2x4 under the seat(or 2) to raise it. Replace the studs w/ bolts to hold the seat & 2x4 in place.

Pour ATF in that rod and do so for a couple of days then see if you can turn it. Move it both ways and also maybe use a wire brush to clean it up. BTDT on more then one and have had pretty goo luck doing what I said

ditto what the others said.

I have a wood block on a non ford doing the same, raising the seat.. works great.

be carefull on that threaded rod. penetrant oil and maybee some heat.
