Wow, that's the longest paragraph I've ever seen with no punctuation or capitals. :D

Still told a GOOD story. How are things on the Island? See any rain ? I'm on the "Sunshine Coast" and have only had 12hrs. in the last month or so. HPH

Utah is great if you snow ski rock climb or like to petal a bike.Around here old tractors are rare. they use them for lawn ornaments or just scrap them.It gets very cold at night but does warm up alot if the sun comes out. This is a mountain desert area only thing they raise around here is hay for their horses and cows.when you get old you live where the family take you Bill

Bill,

Gotcha!:)

I've always been glad i chose typing as a subject option in grade 12 . . . out of sheer laziness so i could avoid the hard subjects.

I'm like you in that I've left all my 50's chev trucks 6 volt.
Every time someone said, go 12, I'd say, "Why, if the engine and carb are tuned up right, 6V is fine.

My Jube came as a 12 or I probably would have left it alone too. :D

Bill its a good feeling when I trudge out back in 20 inches of snow on a 15 degree day and old "Samantha Jean" comes to life on a quick push of a button.
I just stand back sipping my cup a Joe and listen to her purrrrr.

I just wish I started up the easy.

my 8n is a 1950 with a 6 volt system it sits outside in the winter last winter was a record breaker here and i was starting it at 10 degrees on a regular basis growing up we had one tractor on the farm a 6 volt 8n if it didn't start it was too cold to be outside

BTW i enjoyed your post

Thank you Ken I read so much about changing 6 to 12 volts and all the things they have to do .why not just fix whats wrong? my first car was a 52 chev i bought for 50 dollars when i turned 16 in 1960.My father helped me rebuild it and it was 6 volts.had it for 8 years .Always started in the winter.Used it to take my wife to the hospital when our first boy was born.miss that old car. Stay warm Bill

Hi Bill,

This photo should take you right back to your chevy dashboard -- my 6V Chev Step Van . . . sitting outside crying to be started up.
I was going to put it back on the road this spring, but somehow a broken hip, a cracked pelvis and a '53 tractor got in the way.
One of my reasons for staying with 6V was this dash gage. It took about 5 of each of these gages to put these two together.
I keep the sun off the dash because the sun warps the speedo needle until it starts rubbing against the back of the glass. I have no more needles.

I turned 16 in '62 and my first car was a 1956 Ford.

It burned a little oil and one day I pulled into the gas station in Sault Ste Marie to buy a whopping $1.50 worth of gas and the man that came out to the pumps says, "Sorry, we're all out of wood." Cracked me up!
:D

What no air bag or seat belt ? where do you put the kids? Good old days people drove like they had good scents Bill

Funny!

I was driving into town one day and got caught in a seat belt road check. I had the sliding doors wide open too. The cop asks, "got your seat belt on?" Nope, says I.

He gets huffy and says, "You trying to get smart with me." Nope, says I. He thinks for a minute and says, "What year is this?" I said, "'51 and I don't have to have belts do I?" A little angrily again he says, "no, but you should put some in." :)
