Got some seat time yesterday

Did some grading, worked the lift a little. My 1947 8N 6V front dist shifted through all gears except 4th smoothly after changing 2nd gear (main and countershaft). Couldn't find 4th gear, probably due to worn tranny shifter cover?

I do have a couple of issues yet. 1) PTO cannot be stopped. The PTO shifter appears to be stuck, cannot move it. This started after I reassembled the rear split. Any suggestions?

I'm older than I used to be, and I sometimes forget. That being said, I now have NO spark. Checked the 6V coil, the springy thing on the bottom of the square coil was burnt & in two pieces. A new coil has been ordered. Must have left the switch on too long? How long does it take to burn up the coil by leaving the switch on? Is their a way to check if the coil can be salvaged?

Appreciate your help!

On the PTO problem, hopefully just the finger on the
back of the pto lever is just out of its
slot..Remove the cover with the lever and it will be
pretty obvious where the finger inside the cover
should go.The lever likes to flop around all kinds
of ways when re-installing the cover, so it is easy
to get it on wrong..Let us know what u find..Thanks
and Good Luck..

My shift lever is stuck from sitting for 20 years. Can I just pull the cover off and not worry about losing anything during the removal process? I have a manual on order and I expect it this week.

Thank you

I assume your talking about the PTO shifter plate? If your like me, ya gota worry about loosing the bolts you remove! To help myself, I hand screw them back into the hole they came from, until I'm ready to assemble again.
