ot more delivery woes

Just another case of you get what you pay for. Want cheap shipping? Shoddy service goes with sometimes!

No excuse, but what a job...backbreaking at times, long hours, out in the cold or heat, mean dogs, locked gates, grumpy customers, endless miles every day in some worn out box trucks (you ever driven a box truck in the wind?) etc. I know our local guy personally, and after 20 years he is just barely able to handle it anymore but very few advancement jobs are available so he keeps plugging along.

I have had two delivery jobs in my life and I know what you speak of. as far as I am concerned delivery people are the most underrated worker's there are.

Has nothing to do with price of shipping cost,
its just the the human condition. How is it
anything to do with cost of shipping? If its
anything these guys are pushed pretty hard and
they are losing some of their benefits. So are
the employes at State Farm and other big
companies. Home Depot and Wal-Mart only want
part time workers-no benefits. It all goes back
to job loses to CIT like I told you the other
day. Corp greed has squeezed everybody. I have

see what has happen to it due to the greed of a
few.

Any rationalization for shoddy workmanship or procedural shortcomings, must come from "the world owes me a living" mentality or laziness, impatience, or the blamey victimology101 whereby the poor UPS worker is an unwitting victim of his unfair job.

If anyone is either unwilling to do their job to the best of their ability, or unable, then it's time to find other employment or to retire. They made their bed, they have to lie in in.

I delivered rural mail for a few years which included packages
and always included the responsibility of respect for other people's property.

I worked on Commercial construction jobs for 35 years,in the wind, rain, snow, heat, dust and noise just to name a few inconveniences. I never did this type of crappy work, and was glad to have a high-paying job. These days everyone wants a job as the CEO and a corner office. I also worked after work a few hours every day shoeing horses, and on weekends from sunup to sundown. These people knew what the job entails when they hired on. lha

No excuse! Nothing to do with Corporate Greed or anything but laziness and ineptitude. Wal-Mart and such are going to more part time due to external_link care costs. I have many friends in the corporate world and they all complain about trying to get workers who give a damn no matter what the salary.
I ordered a pair of hat rims and front rims which all arrived in good condition except my local guy dropped them on the driveway and dented every bead.

No doubt there is greed aplenty but don't lump every business owner in that generalization. Business is a balancing act of expenses to produce a product or service, be competitive and, yes, make a profit. A business is squeezed from all directions for costs as well as pressure from customer to keep price low. Not all can be shipped overseas.

"I ordered a pair of hat rims and front rims which all arrived in good condition except my local guy dropped them on the driveway and dented every bead."

Joseph, I'm gonna call "BULL excrement" on that statement, for the simple reason it didn't happen.

For the delivery guy to "drop" 4 rims (HOPEFULLY in some sort of packaging) so hard as to dent "every bead" just doesn't pass the nnalert test!

(Unless they were air dropped without 'chutes!)

Greed just because it isn't your money.

Yes a bunch of us on this board served. We didn't serve you or the poor people. We served the Constitution. The very Constitution that allows a company to make a profit and people to become rich.

I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same;. There is more but that's the important part! The part about obeying the president isn't iron clad. That's all LAWFUL orders of the president. He can't order the Army to raid a company. Heck he can't order that from any agency. That requires law enforcement and a search warrant issued by a judge. A lawful order is anything not illegal or immoral. A service member is bound by regulations to disobey illegal orders and to report them.

After seeing vids like these, and then having to file a damaged goods claim, its almost as if these delivery companies condone this type of work and they definitely don't want to accept responsibility for what could happen with mishandled goods.

Last time I checked there was a line of people waiting for jobs like that, if the worker is unhappy or simply doesn't like taking better care of the customer and their property then he needs to be fired immediately. It has nothing to do with the value of the package or its contents, its about doing your job right.

I cant agree with you more. If you are getting paid to do a job do it right or move over and let some one else do it that can.

In the last month or so, I bought 2 8N generators from different sources about 2 weeks apart both delivered by USPS.
After opening each of the packages, both genny's had the cast pulleys and end plates broken into many pieces.

Guess they didn't pass the 6 foot drop test that I didn't know I had to pass.

Wish whoever did it would go find another job.

You nailed it.

Saturday night I ordered two radiator drain plugs. The thread is 12mm x 1.25 and the overall plug is about as long as the first joint on my thumb. I ordered two because they cost $5 each and shipping was $12 (for one OR two). The web site said they should arrive on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, a box arrived that measured about 8"x8"x8". It held one plug.

On Wednesday, a box arrived that measured about 8"x8"x8". It held one plug.

Both boxes were marked 1 of 1 and had separate tracking numbers. See!? It's not just UPS that does weird things!

When I received my vacuum gage from Surplus Center it came in a box big enough to fit a toaster, yet the little box the gage was in was less than 3" X 3" X 3".

The delivery guy sympathized with my freight cost and told me that they have a sleezy rule of charging according to what is greater, the weight or the box size.

I guess that's called, "getting you, coming or going".

Order Recap:
Total Product $: 9.50
Shipping: 22.35
: Grand Total: 31.85

The rims were wrapped in plastic. The beads are bent in alignment with each other and the plastic broken at that point, the same with all three packages. When I got home I found them all standing upright on the mentioned flat spots. You call what you want, I've got the dented rims.

Tall give'em a call a complain up a storm.

On the other hand they probably Pack it that way because they probably had a lot of damaged items during delivery. Chalk up another for the handlers and the delivery people.

As I said in another thread totally unacceptable.

I ordered a cable for a pop up trailer ( my welding trailer) that raises the top small thin cable weighing less than a pack of smokes the cable was 7.49 but the shipping was 28$ and it came in a envelope. But also ordered a light and socket for my mower the add said 1 for 6.98 so I ordered 2 needing both lights ( shipping was free) I got 4 lights and socket. and I thought 1 was single- not both.

If the front rims were for a 2N I could use the centers to make me some new 16" for my 2N 5 lug

Bob,
I think that Joseph meant to say that the EDGES of his rims were flattened, not the actual tire BEAD surface -- like with what happened to my edges from bead hammer blows.
