This was my first time painting Auto Body Master brand paint.
As I eluded to last night, I didn't expect drying time to be good.
Here's why. This company does not sell a matched hardener.
It is a single stage alkyd enamel and their recommendation is
to paint it as is, out of the can, thin with Naptha if needed.
I'm a fan of hardener and expected drying time to be slow.
It was dry to the touch by noon today, but not really dry.
That's in the shop at 70 degrees constant for over 12 hours.
When I re-coated things today, I added a different brand but
compatible hardener. The hardener tended to lift the paint
that was painted without it if that first coat was overly wet.
It didn't affect it where it was more dry.
It covered very well and the finish looks great.
Below are a couple of close-ups of the front rims I painted.
These were taken after two light coats over dark gray primer.
Left and right, two different rims and yes, that's my reflection
in the paint. Hard to take pics without it. LOL
The fumes were obnoxious and the overspray worse than any
brand I have painted when it comes to tractor paint.
Durability, obviously, has yet to be determined, but I question it.
Bottom line, I won't buy it again. It was $40/gallon and was
supposed to save you the price of custom reducer and hardener.
On a positive note, their bulk paint and their rattle cans match.
Perfectly as far as my poor eyes can tell. Wet and dry.
