Stupid question, 6V light which wire goes where

Hello everyone,

Want to make sure I'm connecting this correctly and not going to mess up these lights. Since I'm not ready to do a complete resto on my 52 8n Sidemount 6v (positive ground), I just picked up a set of 6v "Blazer C225" lights like the ones at good ole' Tractor Supply. Here's the stupid question, it has two short wires, a blue and black wire. Do I go with black as ground (which is actually I suppose positive for this model) and blue is hot or does it not matter? In a previous post I was advised not to attach directly to the batt or key switch and was given some direction there so I think I'm good with that part. I picked up a 20 amp two way switch as well. Also where would you recommend trying to ground to the tractor? Somewhere on the tractor by the lights or go back to the batt for best ground?

Thanks for humoring my ignorance of positive ground and what is likely a simple answer.

If it is a true 2 wire set up then the light does not care a bit which you use as ground and which is hot. But if one wire goes to the frame of the light then that one has to be used as the ground wire and the other the hot wire

If that is the case you can wire which ever way you want. A light will work either way because it has a filament in it that does not care which way power goes

The old electronics school jokes went something like this:

If you wire them one way they will emit light.
If you wire them the other way, they will suck up dark.
Looks exactly the same either way!
The schematic label for a lamp is "DS". (Dark Sucker)
Fluorescent tube light bulbs, when they quit, are dark on the end.
They're full!

Ok, enough shenanigans. LOL
They'll work either way.

Forgot to mention, I normally ground them at the front.
Not to the tin, but to the block or a bracket attached to it.
You could run them all the way back to the battery but its not needed.

On a 6-volt system, one of the wires connected to the light switch goes to the center terminal on the resistor assembly (I have it labeled "terminal block") The second wire goes to the head lights. The wire must have a connection where another wire is added to connect to the second headlight, use a pigtail or a connector. Each headlight will have its own ground. In short, neither wire on the switch goes to a ground. Also, if your light switch does not have fuse, it would be advisable to add one.
