valve guide seal position, flare at the bottom or the top?

When I removed my valve guides I thought the flare of the seal was at the bottom of the seal channel. After installing new seals and reworked valves, I notice a slice of a seal inside the valve chamber on an exhaust valve. Did I install the seals upside down or did some thing wrong.

I hate the idea of removing all the valves and stating over

Oh my--now u have opened a can of worms...Some
stroke out about seals being on exhaust valve
guides--mine had them when I worked the valves
several yrs ago so I put new ones back on all
valves..May not be needed but can't hurt anything---
my old ones were not brittle or melted..your
call..Sorry, i do not remember about the flare..

All mine had seals on them also.... But I did see a post today from several years ago that said put them on intake only and save the other 4. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Anything goes on the 8N!!!
