Can I use this governor

Just got a replacement governor for my 1949 8n and may appear to have the wrong governor. My old governor did not have the proofmeter, the new one does. Can I use the new governor since I will not be hooking up a proofmeter anyway? There is a cap where the cable should go, so, hopefully it'll seal the oil and I'll have no problem.

Thx for the reply. Sorry for the duplicate forum entries, goofed up and put the original msg in the wrong forum.

My 2n has the same cap on it's proofometer output with no gauge to connect. No idea if that is what was supposed to be there from factory...
