MY MANUAL SAYS TO USE A LEFT AND RIGHT SPECIAL TAPPET HOLDING WRENCH TO ADJUST THE VALVES ON MY 8N INDUSTIAL ENGINE.IS THIS SPECIAL WRENCHE NESSACERY AND WHAT IS PURPOSE OF THE WRENCH. I HAVE THE NEW ONE PIECE VALVES GUILDES

The special tools are available for adjusting the tappets for valve lash.

The last two I was into, I drill 1/8" holes into the block bores. This will allow you to hold tappets with a drill and use a standard wrench for adjustment. Just be sure to drill low enough that you can get at the tappets with your drill.

The holes won't hurt a thing. Just use some grease on the bit to catch shavings and keep everything as clean as possible.

so the tappet wrench only keeps the tappet from moving up or down when measureing the gap when adjusting .

(quoted from post at 11:34:51 10/20/14) so the tappet wrench only keeps the tappet from moving up or down when measureing the gap when adjusting .

There will be a slot in each tappet. The drill or whatever you stick in the hole will go into the slot stopping the tappet from turning.

That's why you want to make sure you drill low enough.

First off do you have the adjustable lifters?

in my fo-4 fig fo34 shows how to use the tools. page 29

(quoted from post at 14:43:36 10/20/14) JCINKY I THANK YOU FOR INFORMATION. WILL DRILL.

No problem. If you really want the tools, go for it. But there are LOTS out there been drilled. First one I got was done that way long before I got it.

Beats waiting on tools you may only use once or twice.

Any more ?'s just ask. I can pull a valve cover tomorrow and even get a measurement tomorrow if you like.

BTW...stop shouting. Lose the caps.
