no half tracks

Went and looked at that jubilee and half
tracks. Going home with an empty trailer.
Not all the parts for the tracks were
there. The vane pump on the jubilee wasn't
working and what a pile of crap it was.
More welded stuff than you can imagine. 3
pt didn't work. Either the guy was a real
idiot or he wasn't expecting someone who
knows something to come check it out. A
person would easily put 2g into making it
useable. My favorite part was the gas
dripping on the hot exhaust!

It's none of my business and you're welcome to say so, but did
you make an offer at all, or just decide you didn't want it?
I sometimes buy two or three to make one, if the price is right.

I didn't even throw an offer at him. He was originally at 2400 and came down to 2200 on the phone. I wasn't the one who was going to buy the tractor it was a good friend of ours and we were going to buy the tracks from him as the seller wouldn't separate them. He didn't want another tractor he had to put a bunch of money into again like he did with his 8n. I would have offered him less than a grand for it but didn't want to insult him. This is the guy who said the tracks came on it from the factory mind you. From seeing the tractor if he would have been honest on the condition when we spoke on the phone I wouldn't have even drove up there. He knew absolutely nothing about it so im guessing he bought it and was trying to make a quick buck. He thought the tracks hooked up to the stabilizer brackets. I even showed him a pic of all the parts that go with the aarps tracks and he still argued with me about them. It was a basket case to say the least. Would have needed a completed overhaul on the 3pt, vane pump rebuild, it had good op but it sure didn't sound as quiet and smooth as our jubilee. The seat was welded to the top cover..Tires weren't the greatest. It died whist running and wasn't out of gas..no key so didn't even bother to restart it, it smoked like crazy...the list goes on and on. Now I know why his price was so low. :)

Wow, yeah, sounds like those 2's should have been 1's at best!
I understand not wanting to insult the seller too. Been there.
I've had some basically beg me to make an offer and have told them
"I think we are so far apart that we couldn't find middle ground".
I was not trying to be rude, but that was really how I felt.

Ya that's the name of the game I guess. Win some loose some. The guy said he had 50 tractors too...I saw maybe 8-10 different ones there. Looked at his 8n he had...that was a make an offer type of deal..I didn't even bother. Guess I've learned to be picky with them.

Sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you. I hate it when something like that is misrepresented.

I went and looked at a tractor last year. Wasn't A Ford or nearly as small as an N but the price seemed fair. Didn't look too bad from the pictures. Wasn't the same tractor as in the photos. When I told the guy he was a liar he got mad. Then ask me to make an offer. I told him I wasn't interested and started walking back to the Suburban. In the 2 minutes of that short walk he dropped his asking price 3 times. He was asking 4500. 1st it was "I'll let it go for 4K" then 3750 and then as I was getting in the Burban 3500. IMO he was still about 1K too high.

Its amazing what some people will do to
try sell something. I went and looked at
an an once. The lady was going to trade a
"restored 8n for our 8n with loader so we
loaded it up, drove over there. Looked at
the 8n she had. My husband said where's
the 8n that was in the pics? She also got
upset. She had taken pics off the internet
and posted. Needless to say we went back
home with ours and sold it to someone
else. I'll continue my search for tracks.
