No it's not. Power Master would be a later tractor.
Can you post a picture so we can help you figure it out?

If not, easy way to tell an N is that it would have a flat head
engine with spark plugs going straight into the top of the head.

Later engines would be valve in head, spark plugs angled into
the side of the head. We can help you look for ID on any of them.

Does it have a Cyclops looking nose badge?

P.S. Welcome to the forum!

I'm guessing someone added the powermaster decals
to your 8n. I knew a guy that had a 51 8n with the
woods "grey ghost" on the sides.

Many things get done to tractors to make them look like what they are not. Like painting them blue to look like a newer machine of like putting decals on saying they are a 4000 when in fact it is a 861 etc. That is where one needs to do there home work before they buy a tractor since many will lie and try to fool a person that does not know then years later due to that fact you try to sell what you now have and do not know what it is. Deal with this all the time and people on Craig's list are the worst

I expect that very few tractors or anything else for that matter were ever dressed up to look like something newer in order to cheat someone. Let's not forget that a couple years ago when we had a discussion about this, as this topic is on the monthly schedule, that someone posted a copy of an ad that Ford put out in 1964. It was for a dealer special on steam cleaning and painting blue and lighter gray to make the older ones look like the current production units. I know a fellow whose 861 was blue the first time that I saw it in 1973. He told me that he wanted to "upgrade" it. He still owns it.

Benbob, welcome to the forum. After you have
posted a few times you will be allowed to post
pictures. Until then visit John Smith's web site

elcome here also. I am sure a new guy here but have loved and worked these old tractors for about sixty years.

Ah but dealers know what they have many people on Craig's list only know what they where told when they got there tractor and they do not take the time to learn what the yhave

On this one I can not agree. I have been to at least 10 auctions in the pass few years where they had tractor painted and decal as what they where not. The last I was at had a 861 that was painted blue and had 4000 decals on it. I made sure the auctioneer knew what it was and they made sure to tell the people before they sold it

Thanks for the help I didn't think it belonged but its been there a
while here's what it looks like

looks real good
I'd leave it.
After all, who wants a tractor exactly like every one else has...
(if the previous owner only ever had lawn tractors, I imagine a 8N felt like a fire-breathing, ground-pounding.....PowerMaster :) )

Unless you are gonna make it a points tractor, its your tractor to make look like you want. That's a different hood than the norm 8N hood. As commented before seems to have a nice coat of paint.

I'd leave it.
